Talk to a counsellor, anonymously

Type what's on your mind. A volunteer counsellor will join you as soon as one is free, and you can stay as anonymous as you like.

  • No name, email or phone number needed.
  • Volunteer counsellors who listen without judging.
  • Free, always.

By starting, you understand this is volunteer peer support and not an emergency or medical service.

Rather leave your details? If you'd like a counsellor to reach out to you instead, click Submit contact details. A form will pop up. Your details go to our counsellors' dashboard, and the first counsellor to accept your request will follow up with you.

In immediate danger, or thinking about ending your life? Please call 112 or go to your nearest hospital now. You can also call our free line any time on 0800 1100 2200.
How your privacy is protected
  • There are no accounts, no cookies and no analytics on this page. Your browser is given a random anonymous ID so the chat knows which conversation is yours. It disappears when you close this tab.
  • We store your messages and nickname so a counsellor can reply. Volunteer counsellors can read them, and nobody else.
  • The chat runs on Google Firebase. As with any website, Google can see technical details such as your internet address. We can't, and we never see your name, email, phone number or location unless you choose to submit contact details.
  • If you choose to submit contact details, only the counsellor who accepts your request can see your phone number or email. Your details are deleted once they have followed up.
  • Anyone using this device can see this page, so use Quick exit (or press Esc twice) if you need to leave fast, and Clear this conversation when you're done.
